SuperSay: The Project That Led to Voqora

SuperSay is archived. Voqora carries the work forward.

SuperSay is retained as project history, not as a supported download. The active product is Voqora.

SuperSay was the first public version of an idea I cared about: reading on a Mac should not always mean looking at a screen. Select a passage, press a shortcut, and keep moving while the words are spoken back to you.

That work led directly to Voqora. The core problem is the same, but Voqora is the product I am taking forward with a cleaner first-run experience, a focused release path, and a more deliberate reading-to-listening workflow.

What SuperSay proved

SuperSay established the product shape that still matters:

  • selected text can become listening without copying it into another app;
  • a native Mac shortcut is faster than a browser workflow for everyday use;
  • long PDFs need a resumable listening mode, not just a one-off play button;
  • a local-first speech path is a better default for ordinary reading.

It was a real shipped project, and this page stays up because that work is part of the story. It is not being hidden or rewritten.

Why the SuperSay app is frozen

The project now has one active public product instead of two overlapping apps. Keeping an old download available would create a confusing experience: two different names, separate update paths, and an app that is no longer receiving the same product work or release testing.

So SuperSay is archived as source history. It has no supported release, installer, update channel, or analytics path. Voqora starts clean as its own current Mac app rather than quietly carrying old app state forward.

Where Voqora goes from here

Voqora keeps the useful part of the original idea and makes the workflow more coherent: select text, listen, save longer material as an audiobook, and continue later. Read the full product deep dive for the actual workflow, architecture, and design choices.
